Tell me more about battery operated motorised blinds?
Motorised roller blinds are chain free, the discreet battery is contained within the barrel and is charged at fixed position via a charger plug. This battery motorised system is quick to install and requires no hard wiring.
The blind can be supplied with a multi-channel remote which can operate up to 15 blinds in one room.
You can add your motorised window blinds to your collection of SMART home devices via a home hub which works with voice control such as Alexa and Google.
You choose how to control your blinds whether you are at home or away and set the scene according to your needs at the touch of a button.
With the hub you can choose personalised positioning to control light and privacy during the day or at night.
Motorised blinds enhance home security and adapt temperature efficiently.
App features: • Timer • Scene settings • Room control individually or simultaneously • Battery feedback - a very handy feature on smart phone / tablet indicates battery levels •
What's the difference between hardwired electric blinds and battery motorised blinds?
Although a little more expensive for the initial set up the electric wired blinds are the most convenient.
If you are fortunate enough to be in a position to have the option to wire for them during the building process they are a great investment as once they are installed that's basically it you don't need to worry about charging or cables and batteries.
The only downside we could possible think of is, if they're down in a power cut they're staying down and there is no manual option to open or close them, trying to force them down will only damage the motor.
With the battery system obviously they work in a powercut so an electic outage wouldn't be an issue, but if you're on the fence whether to go battery or wired a simple question you should ask yourself is; how often does your area get power cuts?
Other questions you should ask yourself; Are your window's high up or hard to reach? (the charger is located behind the blind pin end). Can you see yourself being content having to plug them in individually to charge once or twice a year?
Can you add motors to existing blinds and shades?
Yes subject to barrel compatibility you can add our motors to your existing roller, vertical and venetian blinds. Smart home hubs are also available for voice control with Alexa and Google.
Please be aware that for venetians the motors will only tilt the slats and not lift the blind up.
How often do I need to charge battery motors?
It really does depend on how often you use the blinds but ater the initial novelty has worn off you may only have to plug them in once or max twice a year?
The charger is located behind the blind so if your windows are high up you may need an extension cable and a step ladder. Each blind will need to be individually charged.
Setting an afternoon aside once or max twice a year when you're home can be a good option. If you use Alexa or Google you can easily schedule a day when you're home.
Our home hub also supports an app which show's the battery percentage so you can check on your battery charge and never get caught out.
